Front Door Fall Decor

I couldn't wait for cooler weather to decorate my front porch for fall anymore. After all, we are in Arizona, and it doesn't start getting cool until November.

I started with a handful of fake pumpkins from the dollar store. I found one of my favorite rectangular baskets, stuffed it with wadded up book pages to add height for the pumpkins to rest on.

Then I added a "Welcome Fall" decal to my front door, along with one of two book wreaths that move from place to place around my house. I made the decal, you can purchase one here if you want.

This $15 cabinet I just picked up from Habitat for Humanity got a fresh coat of heirloom white paint and a light distressing. It was a perfect stage for the colorful pumpkins.

We need a door door mat, but I didn't want to go buy one, so sweeping the concrete and giving the mat a good shake will have to do for now.

Its simple, and yet looks like I made an effort to welcome the new season.
If only it would make an effort to actually get here...

Happy Fall!

Yellow Family Rules Subway Art

I've been longing for more color lately.
Summer time in Arizona is hot (and so is fall, for that matter), so cool muted tones feel good as far as home decor goes in summer time.

But fall is my favorite time of year and I'm aching to add some yellow golds, harvest reds and pumpkin orange to my home.

Here's my first fall project of the year:

My own version of the quite popular "family rules" subway art. My husband and I thought of things that best apply to our family and I incorporated into this sign.

It started as an old cabinet door. I painted it a warm yellow I got from the clearance bin. When that dried, I antiqued it with wood stain to highlight the bevels and contours in the wood.

I made this decal (purchase it here) and applied it to the center of the wood.

Added a few accessories and propped it up here for now. It added that perfect fall color I was wishing for.

Now I need to get started on the other home projects up my sleeve.
What about you? Are you decorating for fall yet?

Chair Number Decals

This is how my dining room chairs looked as of five minutes ago.

...and then I added these super cute vinyl numbers from my etsy shop.

Normally, I'm not a detail oriented person, at all, but I have to tell you, after I added these decals to the chairs and saw what a great difference it made, I'm determined to add more detailed touches in my home.

Our numbers also correspond with our number in the family, so we don't fight over who sits where anymore either.

Next chore on the list? Detail wash my dirty table. Yuck! :)

If you like the chair decals you can get them here.

Happy Monday, friends!
